My husband, Courtney and I fell in love with these fascinating creatures 12 years ago. We have taken our time developing our herd, choosing quality over quantity. We are dedicated to breeding for the best and bringing well known, proven blood lines to the Southeast.
Visiting Lasso the Moon is a fun, educational and tactile experience. We are committed to sharing our knowledge of alpacas and all that comes with raising and breeding them to folks interested in learning more about these fuzzy, gentle beings. We want our visitors to have a hands on experience. We will show you the fiber both on and off the animal, explain what we look for in our show string and share with you the fun things you can do with fiber to create beautiful end products. We will be real with you. Sharing both
our good experiences and our challenges.
My husband and I both use alpaca fiber to teach classes here on our farm. I teach both wet felting & needle felting classes, while my husband makes his own fly fishing flies using alpaca fiber. Learn to nuno felt a scarf or needle felt a little doll or alpaca. I am also a glass artist and hand blow or lampwork little glass alpaca shaped beads. Lampworking is a very old craft which was made famous by the venetians. I use glass rods from Italy and Germany, hand sculpt each bead and then accent the finished jewelry with semi-precious stones, Balineses Sterling Silver, Swarovski Crystals and sometimes even alpaca fiber.
We attend over 7 shows per year all across the country. Why so many shows? We really enjoy the networking opportunities as well as the friendly competition. It is also a great way for us to guage how our animals stack up against other dedicated, serious breeders. We learn something new about alpacas at every show we attend.
OUR GOAL AT LASSO THE MOON ALPACA FARM IS TO HELP MAKE YOUR ALPACA EXPERIENCE AS REWARDING AS OURS!
